What does it mean if a designer is an ASID designer?

ASID is a community of people driven by a common love for design and committed to the belief that interior design, as a service to people, is a powerful, multi-faceted profession that can positively change people's lives. Professional members of ASID must pass rigorous acceptance standards: They must have a combination of accredited design education and/or full-time work experience and pass a two-day accreditation examination administered by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). Through education, knowledge sharing, advocacy, community building and outreach, the Society strives to advance the interior design profession and, in the process, to demonstrate and celebrate the power of design to positively change people's lives.

Its more than 36,000 members engage in a variety of professional programs and activities through a network of 48 chapters throughout the United States and Canada. Founded in 1975, the American Society of Interior Designers is the oldest, largest and leading professional organization for interior designers.

ASID inspires and enriches its members by promoting the value of interior design, while providing indispensable knowledge and experiences that build relationships. The Society's 18,000 practicing interior designers work in all areas of both commercial and residential design. ASID Industry Partners include more than 2,700 member firms with some 7,500 individual representatives, uniting the professional designer with manufacturers of design-related products and services.

The Society's membership also includes more than 10,500 students of interior design. ASID has student chapters at colleges, universities and design schools with 2-year and 4-year programs throughout the U.S. and "virtual" chapters through Rhodec International and The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online.

Kim is owner and principal designer of Spaces Design & Planning. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, with a BS degree in Interior Design and has 20 years experience in the design field. Her goal is to create distinctive residential and commercial interiors, working primarily in the Nevada and California areas, she and her staff have created outstanding designs that are functional, timeless and complementary to the surrounding architectural elements. They maximize their client’s dollars and work within a budget. Kim and her staff feel that fabulous designs can be within reach for anyone.

Kim believes strongly in advancing and promoting the profession of Interior Design. She was appointed to the Nevada State Board of Architecture, Interior Design and Residential Design (2010 to 2013). She has served on the Board of Directors for the National Council of Interior Design Qualifications (NCIDQ) (2009-2010). She is also active in local design groups and community service projects. Kim is a Register Interior Designer in the State of Nevada (certification is mandatory for designers to specify products relating to building codes for commercial businesses). Kim is passionate about design, always striving to make every space special.

Linda has been at the Reno Paint Mart Decorating Studio for over 10 years. She is NCIDQ certified and past Director and professional member of ASID. She has worked in design studios, for architects, in corporations and developed her facilities company. Linda has taught decorating classes and TMCC. She spends her free time race walking and riding horses.

Bethany is an interior designer originally from New Jersey. She graduated from Arcadia University in Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and Interior Design. After working in commercial design in Philadelphia, she moved to Reno and began working with Reno Paint Mart. She enjoys getting to know her clients and helping them with their design challenges. She lives in Sparks with her husband and two young children.

A native Nevadan with more than 20 years of design experience, Brenda previously worked for companies including Ethan Allen and Hedwig Ludman Interiors helping to create beautiful homes from the ground up as well as remodeling and decorating existing homes. Today as the driving force behind DWB Design, she specializes in creating unique and functional designs that clients not only love to look at but want to live in, working with a variety of spaces from corporate and home offices to semi-custom and custom built homes.
