What does it mean if a
designer is an ASID designer?
What does it mean if a designer is an ASID designer?
ASID is a community of people driven by a common love for design and committed to the belief that interior design, as a service to people, is a powerful, multi-faceted profession that can positively change people's lives. Professional members of ASID must pass rigorous acceptance standards: They must have a combination of accredited design education and/or full-time work experience and pass a two-day accreditation examination administered by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). Through education, knowledge sharing, advocacy, community building and outreach, the Society strives to advance the interior design profession and, in the process, to demonstrate and celebrate the power of design to positively change people's lives.
Its more than 36,000 members engage in a variety of professional programs and activities through a network of 48 chapters throughout the United States and Canada. Founded in 1975, the American Society of Interior Designers is the oldest, largest and leading professional organization for interior designers.
ASID inspires and enriches its members by promoting the value of interior design, while providing indispensable knowledge and experiences that build relationships. The Society's 18,000 practicing interior designers work in all areas of both commercial and residential design. ASID Industry Partners include more than 2,700 member firms with some 7,500 individual representatives, uniting the professional designer with manufacturers of design-related products and services.
The Society's membership also includes more than 10,500 students of interior design. ASID has student chapters at colleges, universities and design schools with 2-year and 4-year programs throughout the U.S. and "virtual" chapters through Rhodec International and The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online.

With over 20 years of Professional Interior Design services, I have established myself as someone with a broad range of design and project management experience. Though residential interiors have been my primary focus over the past 15 years, specializing in one room renovations to whole houses and additions, I’ve also had the opportunity to work on smaller commercial projects including healthcare offices.
I enjoy the challenges of every project and cater to each client individually, listening and sharing, their vision for their space and transforming it to reality. I don’t focus on any one particular design style. I utilize all of them taking from the architecture and personality of the client to create the preferred designed space while maximizing the utilization of space using custom cabinetry designs, lighting, color, and furniture layouts. No project is too small to achieve the optimal environment.
I am a Professionally Certified Designer (NCIDQ) and a member of the American Society of Interior Design (ASID). I have an undergraduate degree in Interior Design from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

CHED Designs is a full service design firm dedicated to practical, functional, and aesthetic design. Our goal is to create truly noteworthy interiors that bare our clients' tastes and desires. We do not believe in "Cookie Cutter" or "Cut & Paste" design. We like to take the time analyzing the preferences made by our clients to gain an understanding of what motivates them. Through this process, we gain the ability to become better informed and able to make the decisions necessary for a successful project. When it come down to it ... it is all about the Client. Working with their wants, needs, and desires while providing for them an environment that reflects their own style, not ours. It is also about the unexpected, that little something extra that pulls the entire space together.
Color is one of our many fortes' and we are not timid in the use of color to bring out the best in our clients home. Color is also one of the most important tools used to tie a room together and sometimes the most cost effective or easiest to change. We also enjoy working with the proper placement of color in relationship to adjoining spaces.
Our work in design started in San Diego, Ca 15 years ago. We relocated to Western Pennsylvania 12 years ago where Chuck received his degrees in both Interior Design & Historic Preservation. Ted has been doing Kitchen & Bath Design and is a member of NKBA for over 6 years now. We also specialize in the effective space planning for additions & new construction, the use of green products, and budgets of all types. We have a wonderful "Living Showroom" and studio in our home which allows us to represent many of the lines we carry. We have also been featured on Designers' Challenge, as well as, in various magazine publications and local home tours.

"Of all aspects of interior design, my favorite is choosing paint for a client. The correct tone of paint or paints can simply make a room come to life or make aged furniture look fabulous. It is truly the hardest channel of interior design, but also the most rewarding. The most important aspect of color is that it is emotional. Today, more than ever, people are seeking depth, warmth and comfort. They want simplicity without sacrificing style or quality. As a designer, I am able to help people attain their color goals without hesitation."
